YOUR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Your United Way offers targeted solutions to community needs through direct programming to the community. The programs provided by your United Way meet real needs of individuals of Baytown and Chambers County, and provide vital resources that lift the quality of life for every individual. Are you interested in joining a collaborative group to impact community improvement? United Way of Greater Baytown & Chambers County has several focus groups & committees that are volunteer-run by local community members.

Service Opportunities

Your United Way is volunteer-led and volunteer driven. Volunteers have given more than 8,800 hours of service to Baytown and Chambers County, creating an additional $264,196 community investment in 2023.

Volunteer Connect:

United Way’s virtual volunteer center and online digital database includes volunteer opportunities populated by local community partners to make volunteering easy for workplaces and the public.

Days of Caring:

Days of Caring is a staple of United Way that mobilizes volunteers to celebrate the spirit of giving through service. United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers County works with local nonprofit agencies and organizations to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to improve our community.

Days of Action:

Stamp Out Hunger:

Partnering with the Baytown Post Office and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Stamp Out Hunger allows our community to donate nonperishable food items through their mail delivery system, that are then used to fill local food pantries.

Finance Committee, Community Impact Committee, and Events Committee

Committee members are nominated from active donors/volunteers with United Way, who are able to contribute directly in their field of expertise or interest.

The Finance Committee collaborates closely with other committees and the board of directors to align financial decisions with the organization's mission and strategic goals. The Community Impact Committee oversees the annual grant application process and they ensure that funds are directed towards initiatives that address root causes, empower marginalized populations, and foster enduring positive change within the community. The Events Committee is responsible for orchestrating and rallying support for various United Way events from conception to execution.

 

 

Current United Way of GBACC Programs

Clothing for Kids Closets helps students stay in school and parents stay at work by providing new, quality clothing for students in Anahuac ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, East Chambers ISD, and Goose Creek CISD. School partners have access to clothing and hygiene items during the time of need of the student, allowing parents to stay at work and know their students are taken care of.

The Poverty Simulation is a unique opportunity for community members to experience what it is like to be ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are the individuals in our community that are working multiple jobs to make ends meet, do not qualify for most help or intervention, but are one decision away from a dire situation. The Poverty Simulation allows individuals to get a glimpse into the real resources and programs available in Baytown and Chambers County, and just as importantly, what is missing.

Baytown Area & Chambers County Disaster Recovery is the long-term recovery group founded to focus on collaborative partnerships that can facilitate and implement a coordinated response to future disaster recovery needs.
