Day of Caring 2024 Mobilizes Hundreds

Day of Caring 2024 Unites Hundreds in Community Volunteer Effort

Baytown, Texas (November 1, 2024) The United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers is thrilled to announce the success of Day of Caring 2024, which saw hundreds of passionate volunteers working together to uplift Baytown and Chambers County. The volunteer event celebrates the spirit of service and demonstrates the power of community action to make a lasting impact.

For more than 20 years, Day of Caring has rallied individuals and groups to transform our community, making tangible, lasting improvements in our neighborhoods and support local resource providers. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to paint, landscape, clean, and build, leaving visible marks of progress and pride that will ripple through the area for generations.

“Bringing people together to inspire positive change is what United Way is all about,” says Kaci Pena, Director of Community Engagement. “Day of Caring is more than a volunteer day; it’s a chance for individuals to create real-time impact while connecting to the shared responsibility we have in strengthening our community. It’s incredible to see how one day of service can spark a culture of collaboration and care.”

This year’s volunteers tackled projects across the Baytown area and Chambers County communities, including building two new sheds in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, distributing essential food supplies with Hearts and Hands of Baytown, and constructing wheelchair ramps for senior residents. Altogether, volunteers will complete over 50 projects, each one contributing to a stronger, more connected community.

For those who couldn’t join this year, there are still ways to get involved! Learn how you can make a difference year-round by visiting our volunteer website at www.volunteer.unitedwaygbacc.org or calling us at 281.424.5922.
