Disaster Recovery Grant-Funded Positions

BACC-DR is a collaborative partnership established and maintained on behalf of the individuals, families, businesses, and communities in the Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County to facilitate and implement a coordinated response to Hurricane Harvey and other future disaster recovery needs. Its mission is to assist in identifying the unmet needs of those affected by Hurricane Harvey and other future disasters, and to coordinate access to resources that would provide relief. BACC-DR strives to: 

  1. Provide coordinated management of long-term recovery to the disaster;
  2. Provide additional long-term assistance to individuals affected by the disaster who do not have adequate personal resources for unmet needs as result of the disaster; and   
  3. Advocate for ongoing preparedness within the community and for cooperation with faith-based, governmental and community agencies active in disaster response.

Disaster Recovery Project Manager 

The Project Manager is the leader of all field work for Baytown Area & Chambers County Disaster Response (BACC-DR) and will report to the UWGBACC CEO and Construction Work Group.  S/he will oversee the field repair of a minimum of four houses at a time.  The role requires functional ability related to the scope of work, administration of project scope and budget, a high level of communication to all stakeholders, strict adherence to all matters of safety, and coordination of volunteer and skilled labor. You must be able to work flexible hours and be proactive to make the disaster relief efforts meaningful and cost-effective. Position requires scheduling flexibility to accommodate weekend work by volunteers.  Working every weekend is not an expectation but participating in an oversight plan to accomplish weekend work is expected. AmeriCorps Members - four positions

Two individuals will be hired for the client services/volunteer coordinator roles. The position of a Client Services / Volunteer Coordinator serves as an advocate and liaison to United Way from application to completion of construction and move-in while working to remove barriers to their recovery. They will handle all volunteer logistics, support volunteer fundraising efforts that directly support the AmeriCorps project, speak with energy to large groups of volunteers about United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County before and after their volunteer build, and communicate with multiple departments to ensure volunteers have a quality experience.

Two individuals will be hired for the project lead roles. Project Leads implement the construction efforts on clients' homes and oversee groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers in rebuilding projects. All Project Leads are supported by a Project Managers and are also provided with construction and volunteer management training curriculum that equips them with the knowledge to facilitate construction projects ranging from demolition to final paint and prime. Applicants for this position do not need any prior construction experience!
