Did you know that half of the children who start school in the Baytown area do not have the basic skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten? That is a startling fact! United Way has collaborated with agencies and skilled volunteers to help organize FREE Parent Workshops for parents of children 0-5 in an effort to get their children ready for school. Tuesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 10 United Way will host another session of the workshops: Tuesday will be the ENGLISH session and Thursday will be the SPANISH session. They will be held at the Baytown Community Center (2407 Market Street.) The workshop will be from 6 pm to 7:30 pm and will offer a wealth of information to parents on how to get their children ready for Kindergarten. Skilled leaders will demostrate age-appropriate activities for these children including, but not limited to: numbers, letters, colors, patterns/sequencing and much more. Refreshments for all and child care for children to age 10 will be available.
There is no cost to attend these great sessions, but early registration is encouraged. Please contact (281) 420-4555 then press 2 to register.
