Project LeeWay, a Lee College education program for low-income adults, will begin their next class on July 9, 2012. The Harris County Department of Education is now recruiting 3 and 4 year-olds for their Head Start Centers! Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1st. Head Start provides healthy meals and snacks, referrals to meet family needs, parent involvement opportunities, developmental screenings, and read and rise family activities for low-income families, children with disabilities, children in foster care, families receiving TANF and SSI, and families who are homeless. There is NO cost for services!...

The Sterling High School Key Club announced that they will be collecting food for the National Assocation of Letter Carriers (NALC) "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive. The nation-wide food drive will take place on Saturday, May 12. If you would like to donate to Sterling's Key Club efforts, please contact Judith Bender at jabender[at]gccisd[dot]net. Donations can also be made at your mailbox, or collected and taken to the US Post Office on Baker Road, across from Sterling High School.

Family Services of Greater Houston, a partner agency of United Way of Baytown Area, offers the Ways to Work Car Loan Program which assists hard-working parents with children who are unable to receive a car loan from a bank or credit union due to imperfect or no credit history.
